Who was that masked monopolist?
Out on the rough media frontier, beyond the reach of democracy and justice, one man stood
above the rest.
The Lone Merger slips into town in the dead of night and buys up every scrap of a paper--
lock, stock and barrel. The next day he bombastically proclaims victory over the forces of
compassion and equality-- daring anyone to oppose his reign of midnight media merger madness.
And he'll face down any critics on the street-- drawing first and gunning for them with both barrels
of his six-litigator libel-suits blazing.
Along with his faithful right-wing sidekick Buckskin Barb, the Lone Merger is now part of
the mythological tradition of robber barons and corporate raiders.
Their god-given mission is to take from the evil employees,
and give to the more deserving-- themselves.
All across this land, no one can ignore the Lone Merger's familiar cry--
Heigh-ho, Slave-driver Away!
